Horrified, angered, saddened, disturbed, worried, surprised, distraught and depressed are all words I have used in recent days to describe the rush of emotions related to the events of these past weeks. It’s About More Than a Degree

diploma and want adYou have to use what you have.  If you have a degree in medicine and haven’t practiced your chosen craft for, let’s say, the past 10 years, then you are not going to work on me. There is no way that a doctor without an active practice or continuing education updates and certifications is going to get near me or my family. Quite frankly, based on all of the knowledge one can gain through the Internet, I probably know as much as the doc at this point in time as it relates to the latest and greatest.  (more…)

We’re Listening for the Rumblings

ear to the groundHave you heard of “tectonic plates?” What I’m about to give you is far from a scientific definition. They are the different layers of the earth’s crust that are continually moving about, creating all sorts of burps, gurgles and spews. When these plates have a really bad day, we end up with volcanoes, earthquakes, typhoons and the like. We love this stuff in a movie — not so much in real life.  (more…)
