Don’t Ever Miss It

My windows in the car were at half-mast as I made my way to the office. It was beautiful, like many early fall days. There was a crispness and cleanliness in the air that was free of the oppressive humidity of recent times. As the morning proceeded, the burn-off of some early fog would reveal a magnificent day, filled with a full blue sky and the uninhibited rays of the sun. Sometimes Technology Gets a Little Wild

fly swatterDo you know what “The Dynatrap® XL” is? Sounds pretty intimidating. The price is equally as intimidating: $179. What you have here is something that wreaks havoc on the flying insect community. That’s right, “The Dynatrap XL” is only the first name. The full product name is “The Dynatrap XL Flying Insect Eliminator.” Basically, it’s a bug zapper. Somewhere the head of marketing just fainted because of my minimalist characterization. Oh, well. It’s a bug zapper, plain and simple — a $179 bug zapper. (more…)

Burger King Is a Traitor. Really?

money burgerBurger King is taking the Whopper across the border to Canada. Yep, that can happen. The corporation wants to acquire a restaurant chain called Tim Horton’s that focuses on morning fare, thus better rounding out the King’s ability to clog one’s arteries for the entire day versus just P.M. delights.

In normal times, this is a business story that creates discussion only inside the circles of investors, business-related media, and those of us who are data wonks specific to the ways of commerce. (more…)
