It seemed as though, on an almost daily basis, we would have to navigate through a news story, political commentary, or late-night humorous fodder that included some reference to this category of possible military threat. Reminiscing Makes Me Smile

memory laneWe were boarding American Airlines out of Dallas. I noticed that the guy in front of me was intensely studying one of the doorjamb stickers, in the way that you check your car’s doorjamb stickers if you want to know how much air to put in your tires. He wanted to find out something. Given that I have never looked at the doorjamb of a plane, I had no idea.  (more…)

My Family Is Awesome

happy family portrait“I have something you don’t have.” Remember that kid? He would show up at school after the holiday break with an attitude and a smirk that both needed some adjustment when the teacher wasn’t looking.

Well, at the risk of sounding a little snarky: “I have something you don’t have.” But so do you. It’s called our family. And the holiday season is a vivid reminder of how unique each and every one of our family trees truly are.
