hands all inOngoing is the debate by and between our community and civic leaders as to whether or not St. Louis County and St. Louis City should come together in an effort to gain a more efficient means by which to serve their respective residents. An “all for one — one for all” region mentality versus the fragmentation that exists today could only improve services, reduce costs and give our region an opportunity to thrive. That’s the thought. Real Service Is a Beacon of Hope

row of lockersYou will not have heard of this outstanding gentleman. His name is Philip W. Eldred, and what he did just over 75 years ago defines service. We talk about service with varying degrees of definition. Service is a relative term, meaning different things to different people, but every once in a while, we can all agree there is an example that stands atop all others. I’ll narrow that down some — it’s probably the issue at hand in our country for sure. It shows up in at least two places: on college campuses and certainly as a prevailing concern in business.
