Find a Career You Love

happy groupIf you want a job, I’m not sure we want you. Let me re-state that: NO, we do not want you to work here. That sounds harsh, but it’s the truth. People matter here, and people who want a “job” are just not a good fit. And we don’t compromise our values for anyone or anything.

Folks throw around the word “job” like quarters in a slot machine — try them all, and one of them might pay off. “Job” is a word used pretty loosely: “I want a job.” “I hate my job.” “I need a job.” The use of the word “job” doesn’t conjure up too much positive emotion. The point here is that “job” is NOT synonymous with career, and certainly “job” does not stand for passion.

Lotteries and slot machines rarely pay off, and for that reason, I’m guessing that you need to earn a living. For heaven’s sake, if that’s you, then why not enjoy what you’re doing and make a difference in people’s lives while doing it? It’s sad to think that people spend the majority of their waking hours working at a “job” and hating every minute of it. Find a career, something you love that matters to your community, and you’ll never work another day in your life. That’s the truth.

Now, if you want a career, St. Louis Community Credit Union might very well be the place for you. You decide. We bring a lot to the table for the right people. Are you someone who is passionate about helping others? Are you “purpose-driven”? Do you recognize that our mortal life is but a vapor and making a difference matters? Or do you want to work for “The Man”? I choose the former over the latter. If you choose the former as well, the first part of your interview with us will be easy.

We exist to serve our community and each other. We’d rather have people who are willing to work from start to finish. Nine-to-five folk don’t usually thrive at St. Louis Community Credit Union. Yeah, we pay overtime, but that’s not the point. See, it’s the attitude — not the hours worked.

If you have a purpose and a passion to serve people, then every two weeks, your paycheck will be a reminder of how rewarding serving your fellow human being can truly be. And that’s just you. Now imagine working with 150-plus other people who have the exact same purpose, passion and desire to serve. Now you’ve found the right place for your career.  We’re happy, dedicated, friendly and caring — all of us. See for yourself — hear what our staff had to say in our new video. Oh yeah, we have something in common, too — making St. Louis a better place to live for all people.

It’s worth repeating.  If you want a “job,” we’re not for you.

This is exactly how I feel! So many people confuse job with career, and that’s what I want and need. A career that I love and can’t wait to get to everyday! St. Louis Community Credit Union is one of the most friendly organizations I have ever patronized…..I love how I can always expect a smile when I walk through the door! We need more businesses like this.
