In A World Of Change, You Can Count On SLCCU

The world is going crazy.  Starbucks changed its logo.  Taco Bell announced that they have meat in their tacos (I actually liked the other stuff).  EZ Bake Ovens have been taken off the shelves and “Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots have been moved to the “old toy section.”

And the madness continues.  Subway now has more restaurants worldwide than does McDonalds.  (Which begs of the question, who would win in a fight between Jarred and Ronald McDonald?  My money’s on the clown.  I think there’s some serious pent up anger after years of being grabbed at by little kids).  And my favorite – speaking of change, I was reminded not too long ago by someone (are you ready?) that gas prices were up in all 57 states.  Uh-oh!

Change is good – I love it.  You know what else is good?  Stability and the lack of change.  If you’re like me, strong positive values, uncompromising principles, acceptable mores, solid morals, integrity, unwavering faith, love for family, and honesty shouldn’t change.

Actually, it can be a comfort to know that little change occurs in those things that you have come to count on as the stability (the rock) in your life.  My Aunt Marie’s Tea Biscuits never changed – light on the raisins and heavy on the stomach.  My dad was a rock.  He was a tough, hard-nosed guy whose sense of humor was piercing.  He never changed.  When you screwed up, you heard about it with venom.  When you did well, you heard about it with love.

St. Louis Community Credit Union changes certain things all the time.  Our focus is always to make our members’ lives better.  So we change rates, products, delivery channels and convenience.  But we never change our values, principles and commitment to our members.  We’ve said it before, but it is worth repeating: our compass points due north as it relates to serving our members and the community.  We’re a rock.

SLCCU is inclusive.  We are considerate and compassionate.  We are so very grateful for the opportunity to help people to live better lives.  We are humbled and appreciative that our members trust us with the prized possession of their hard-earned money.  Every day we teach, and are never above being taught.  We are good listeners.  We are diligent in working to eliminate weakness and equally committed to fortifying strength.  We demonstrate what is right and good.  We respect our members, our credit union and each other.  We are loyal, dedicated and committed to our cause.  We have energy, audacity and proof that what we do works (not bragging, just fact).  We are smart and our staff is a fertile field of ideas that we harvest every chance we get.  SLCCU staff is nice, polite and respectful.  We are quick to admit our mistakes and slow to boast over our victories.

Isn’t it good to know that in a world where change is “Mach VI with your hair on fire,” you can count on SLCCU for values that aren’t taken lightly?  Sort of like those Tea Biscuits!
